Behold this week's "teach us something" video!

I became very confused though, because while putting this together I was also reading about how everything has to be a story. Consequently a story crept in to my video--along with carefully placed inaccuracies designed to beef up my story core. I also had technical difficulties  I can not seem to manage the sound--how to eliminate the sound that comes in with my video? How to layer sounds? Finally, I can not for the life of me figure out how to upload my video from youtube. This must be because I am 46.

  1. Letty,

I enjoyed your video! I liked the humor in it the most. I could hear a voice in the background as you were making the martini. I know there are some options in window movie maker where it says to hear the music or voice louder as well as fading. Not sure if you tried those but they might be helpful. But I still enjoyed it and it makes me want to try a martini. :)

  2. Ya Letty, you're the best. Loved your video, the olive shtick was hilarious, along with your high speed martini shaking. The only thing was I couldn't read all the slides in time, I had to go back again. Keep the enjoyable films coming, looking forward to more.

And for your blog, being a social science major I was having some of the same concerns you were having about DST being applicable. The narrative aspect is not an easy association with expository text, I came to think of it as using the "historical" part with the "narrative" part. Kinda like Titanic, blending the history with a story. Don't know if that makes sense, but I would like to use this somehow. Josh

  3. Thanks for the nice comments Shannon and Josh. I know I have a serious text problem Josh! I am going to try to do my next video with no text at all. Shannon I will look closer at the sound options in Movie Maker.

  4. Loved the video - it was fun, entertaining, and educational! I'd thought of doing a gin and tonic video and ended up editing out my GT comment in the cup cozy video. Yes, we 40-somethings may be somewhat challenged w/a few aspects of the tech, but I think you are well on your way to being a great DST'er!

  5. You video was very cute. It was informative and made me laugh. I love the way you bring the history into all of your videos. Just like most comments above me, the text was traveling too fast at times or was in a difficult color to read with the background. This is a tricky task and I'm sure you will only get better as you keep making videos.
